These workshops offer students the opportunity to delve into the mysteries of this fascinating form of divination.
You don’t have to have any prior knowledge of Tarot to begin to read the cards. This workshop will show you how the symbolism and visual imagery of Tarot can trigger your intuition and speak to your inner knowing. The images within the Tarot deck act as mirrors. The cards offer us a chance to tap into Archetypal symbols and relate them to our everyday lives, reflecting the true nature of a situation back to us.
We will be looking in detail at the Rider-Waite Tarot Deck. The symbolism within this deck draws heavily on Freemasonry, mixed with biblical, Greek and Egyptian philosophy and religion, along with astrology, numerology and Kabbalah.
The workshop will cover:
- History of the Tarot – dispelling the myths
- Getting to know your cards
- Responsible use of the Tarot
- Structure of the Tarot Deck
- Discover your personal Soul and Personality cards
- Looking for symbols
- Basic Tarot Spreads
- Using the cards in other ways - meditation
These workshops will combine theory, discussion and group practical work. Although general handouts will be available, we would recommend that you purchase your own Rider-Waite Deck for practical use on the day, although should you already own another deck this may be brought along as an alternative.
Immediate impressions can sometimes be more meaningful than lengthy analysis, and by the end of the workshop you will have a sound base for interpreting the cards and giving a responsible reading.
