Beaded Jewellery Making and Repairs
Day 1
 
Tools and Equipment
A review of the equipment needed to make and repair beaded jewellery.
 
Components (Findings)
You will learn about the components used to make and repair jewellery and be shown how to use them.
 
Stringing Materials
A review of the cords and threads used to produce bracelets and necklaces.
 
Earrings
You will be shown how to make a pair of ‘dangly’ earrings using Earwires(hooks) or Earposts plus Beads.
 
Practical Session - Earrings
 
Necklace/Bracelet
You will learn how to make a single strand bead necklace or bracelet.
 
Practical Session - Necklace or Bracelet
 
Alterations/Repairs Workshop
Bring along some of your own jewellery and beads and learn how to modify or repair them. e.g. Convert from Earhooks to Earstuds from pierced fittings to clip-on. Change clasps on bracelets and necklaces. Re-use beads and components from broken jewellery.

Followed by demonstrations of:

Illusion Cord Necklace
Illusion cord necklace with dainty crystal beads
and
Silk String Necklace
Beautiful coloured silk strings combined with larger beads.

 
Practical session - You will now be able to make either an illusion cord necklace or silk string necklace.
 
Jewellery wire techniques
Learn how to make secure beaded links with jewellery wire which can be used when making charm bracelets or to create a linked necklace. The same technique can be used when making mobile phone, handbag or belt charms.
 
Practical Session - Practice creating wired loops and links and create a belt or handbag charm.
 
Throughout the course you will have the opportunity to use the tools and equipment and practice the skills demonstrated.
 
Tools will be provided for use during the course.
 
All materials will be supplied to make a pair of earrings and a single strand necklace or bracelet on Day 1 and on Day 2 either an illusion cord necklace or silk string necklace and a belt or handbag charm.
 
Should you decide you would like to purchase your own equipment a good selection of Beadsmith pliers and tools will be available for you to purchase:-
 
e.g. Sets of pliers from £7.95 or individual pliers and cutters from £2.99.
 
A selection of Beads, Findings(components) and stringing materials will also be available for you to purchase:-
 
Sterling Silver, 9ct Gold, Silver plated and Gold plated earring fittings, beads, clasps, extender chains, headpins, jump rings, split rings etc.
 
Stringing materials including Tigertail, Illusion cord, Silk strings…..
 
Plus Gemstone beads, Crystal beads and Glass beads.
