Athena Easy Payment Planspacer The Level 3 Diploma in Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology award is the ‘foundation’ upon which all other Complementary, Beauty and Sports Therapy awards are based. It is comprised of several units encompassing all systems of the body.

It is vital that a therapist understands the anatomy and physiology in detail, as they will be working in direct contact with the body structures. It is also vital that they have a full knowledge of diseases and disorders of the human so that they are aware of when and when not to treat a client and only operate within certain perimeters.

Modules are studied in the following rolling order:

Module 1 – Cells
Module 2 – Skin & Reproduction system
Module 3 – Respiratory, Circulatory & Lymphatic systems
Module 4 – Muscular system & Skeletal
Module 5 – Digestive system & Urinary system
Module 6 – Endocrine & Neurological systems

Evening Course (6.30pm - 9.30pm)

Module 1 - Reproductive system
Module 2 - Cells part one
Module 3 - Cells part two
Module 4 - Skin
Module 5 - Skeletaln system
Module 6 - Muscular system
Module 7 - Respiratory system
Module 8 - Urinary system
Module 9 - Digestive system
Module 10 - Endocrine system
Module 11 - Circulatory & Lymphatic systems
Module 12 - Neurological system

The qualification aims:

  • to provide skills at Level 3 in the National Qualification Framework for those interested in the Beauty, Complementary and Sports Therapy industry
  • to provide opportunities for staff in the Beauty, Complementary and Sports Therapy industry to gain a Level 3 qualification
  • to qualify candidates as Beauty, Complementary or Sports Therapists at Level 3 in the industry
  • to sustain the interest of candidates wanting to work in the Beauty, Complementary or Sports Therapy industry
  • to encourage knowledge and understanding for the Beauty, Complementary or Sports Therapy industry at Level 3

The qualifications would be suitable for:

Any adult returnee with a good basic general education returning to education that may have a desire to work as a massage therapist or Reflexologist for which the A&P is a pre-requisite. Anyone already working as a nurse or carer who may wish to become a complementary therapist as the A&P is a pre-requisite qualification to many other awards. Anyone involved in gym or aerobics who must have a good understanding of the body structure or who may wish to add sports massage to their skills as the A&P with Massage is a pre-requisite for this qualification. Anyone who requires to train as a Beauty Therapist.

Opportunities for progression

Once candidates have achieved the ITEC Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology qualification they may progress on to other ITEC or equivalent complementary, beauty or sports therapy awards:

Diploma in Massage
Diploma in Reflexology

If Graduates take therapy qualifications in addition to the Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology qualification they can work on Liners, Health farms and Health Clubs. Anatomy and physiology is part of Gym instruction and Aerobics qualifications and other forms of fitness training. There are now several degree courses available in Complementary Therapies to which candidates may progress.

Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology is a pre-requisite to many courses, including our Aromatherapy, Reflexology and Massage ITEC Level 3 Diploma Courses. Accrediting Previous Learning (APL)

ITEC’s requires every student to fully demonstrate their ability and knowledge. This is usually achieved through an ITEC examination, course work or practical assessment, however if you have clear evidence of previous achievement then this may be taken into account and may exempt you from one or more assessments.

ITEC would accept the A Level in Human Biology provided that it has been achieved after 31st August 2002.

Tutor: A member of the Athena In House teaching team

The course consists of 50 taught hours with a suggested five hours per week for private study. ITEC require 100% attendance in order to obtain the Level 3 Diploma. Students who do not attend all modules will need to organise tutorials with their tutor to enable them to access missed information.  A fee is payable for this service. The final examination consists of a one hour multiple choice theory paper, with a pass mark of 60%.

Athena Easy Payment PlanspacerCost: £450.00 for the full programme. To secure your place: A deposit of £100.00 secures a place. The balance is then due no later than 30 days prior to commencement of the course. You can choose to spread the cost of the programme and pay by affordable monthly installments over the duration of your course and on an INTEREST FREE BASIS - click here to complete an Easy Payment Plan form and submit it with your booking.

Those students who choose to take the final ITEC course assessments and examinations will also be required to pay the associated registration and assessment fees. These are currently set at £121.68 per examination and are subject to change at any time without prior notification and even after the initial payment has been made. These fees are payable in full on or before day one of the course and, once paid, are strictly non refundable.

Course times: Day Course: 10.00am - 5.00pm. Evening Course: 6.30pm - 9.30pm. Please note that students attending their first module should arrive half hour early for their formal induction.

PLEASE NOTE: There is no formal start date for this course; students can join at any stage and simply continue until they have completed all 6 days of the programme or 12 evenings (i.e. you do not have to join this course at Module 1 - a breakdown of what is covered at each Module is at the top of this page).
