Advanced Diploma in Reflexology - Continuous Rolling Programme

CThA - Professional help when you need itA series of 1 day courses giving valuable training for practising Reflexologists
who wish to extend their expertise and knowledge in individual areas and to expand their client
base.

Students wishing to study for an Advanced Diploma in Reflexology will be required to
choose 8 of these modules to be completed in a flexible timeframe - all of which are available as individual courses.
Assessment will then be through case studies (12 people treated twice each) based on the modules studied and a 2,500 word assignment based on a particular area of interest from the course. Please note that there are no case studies required if attending a workshop on an individual basis.

Successful students will receive an Advanced Diploma in Reflexology as approved by CThA.

Modules are studied in the following rolling order:

Module 1: Reflexology for Conception and Pregnancy
Module 2: Reflexology for Children and Teenagers
Module 3: Reflexology and the Chakra System
Module 4: Reflexology for Men
Module 5: Reflexology for Women
Module 6: Reflexology and the Maturing Client
Module 7: Reflexology in Palliative Care
Module 8: Reflexology and the Endocrine System

Module 1: Reflexology for Conception and Pregnancy

With the trend towards putting off starting a family until later, there is an increasing awareness of the need to support the woman’s body when trying to conceive. Reflexology, with it’s reinforcement of the body’s natural energetic systems, it’s recognised ability to induce a relaxed state of mind and it’s value in bringing optimum health, is an ideal therapy for this. The same can be said for the use of Reflexology during the pregnancy.

During the 1 day course you will learn

  • how to help your client reach and maintain optimum mental and physical conditions for fertility
  • how to support ovulation and help control of conditions likely to impede conception
  • how to ensure the safety and comfort of the pregnant client
  • how to help the client to maintain balance at a time of rapid and confusing physical changes
  • how to prepare for and support a natural and stress free birth

 

Module 2: Reflexology for Children and Teenagers

Childhood and adolescence bring a range of challenges that Reflexology can help with. It is widely recognised that society today is placing unprecedented pressures on children and teenagers. Reflexology is an ideal therapy to help them cope with the health issues, both physical and emotional, caused by the changes in lifestyle they experience.

During the 1 day course you will learn

  • how your role as therapist is affected by work with a minor, your legal position and your relationship with the carer as well as the client
  • how to adapt your techniques dependant on the age and development of the client
  • communication skills for work with children and teenagers
  • particular health issues you are likely to encounter in work with children and teenagers
  • how to approach the lifestyle advice needed

 

Module 3: Reflexology and the Chakra System

Today we are more and more interested in the chakra system and how these energy centres affect how our body and mind works. Additionally many now appreciate the role of the chakras in connecting us to the earth and to the spiritual dimensions.  Reflexology helps balance the body’s energies and brings us more in tune with all levels of our being to allow the body to heal itself.  In this way reflexology may be used to focus on the chakra system for balance and activation as necessary.

During the 1 day course you will learn

  • The properties of the 7 major chakras
  • How to locate the reflexes for the chakras on the feet
  • How treating the chakras may encourage wider healing in the body
  • How to incorporate the reflexes for the chakras into the whole reflexology treatment.

 

Module 4: Reflexology for Men

Men are becoming more aware of the need to take care of themselves and Reflexology, as a non-intrusive therapy, which causes the minimum of embarrassment is an ideal introduction to the world of complementary therapy or as a treatment in its own right.

During the 1 day course you will learn

  • how reaching a male client base may differ from the female client base
  • how to adapt your approach to a male client if necessary
  • particular health issues you are likely to encounter in work with men
  • how to approach the lifestyle advice needed

 

Module 5: Reflexology for Women

Women are increasingly aware of the need to take care of themselves at different stages of their life.  Women often face real challenges from child-birth to the menopause and reflexology, as a non-intrusive therapy may offer a means of helping the body to cope with these challenges.

During the 1 day course you will learn

  • how reaching a female client base may differ from the male client base
  • how to adapt your approach to a female client if necessary
  • particular health issues you are likely to encounter in work with women
  • how to approach the lifestyle advice needed

 

Module 6: Reflexology and the Maturing Client

Athena salePeople are living longer and demanding a healthy and active life-style for longer now. This means that there are ever expanding opportunities for widening your client base so long as you are prepared for the specific needs of the more mature client.

Reflexology is becoming more and more popular among mature people as an approach to supporting their own levels of health and energy as well as providing a full body workout boosting the immune system, helping to control pain, supporting against side effects of drugs and increasing the feeling of self-empowerment.

During the 1 day course you will learn:

  • how your role as therapist can change in the environment of work with the elderly and more mature client
  • the conditions you are likely to meet from arthritis to dementia, results of strokes and others
  • how to adapt your techniques to suit work with the elderly and more mature person
  • how to ensure your own well-being both emotionally and physically in, what can be, a more complex environment
  • how to add value to your treatments by incorporating other therapies and knowledge you have at your disposal
  • how to work comfortably and positively with other professionals

 

Module 7: Reflexology in Palliative Care

Reflexology is one of the disciplines which is increasingly recognised as being beneficial within palliative care both for its stress busting qualities and as a support to the immune system. It also has value as a way to handle pain, to reduce the symptoms of side effects to drugs and to improve the general well-being of terminally ill patients.

During the 1 day course you will learn

  • how your role as therapist will change in the environment of palliative care
  • how to adapt your techniques to suit work with the terminally ill
  • how to add value to your treatments by incorporating other therapies and knowledge you have at your disposal
  • how to ensure your own well-being both emotionally and physically in, what can be, a more complex environment
  • how to work comfortably and positively with other professionals

 

Module 8: Reflexology and the Endocrine System

The Glands of the endocrine system, by secreting hormones into the blood, play an essential part in maintaining and controlling metabolic processes throughout the body. This system is also crucial for the development and growth of the body.  Reflexology can be used to balance the endocrine system and so help return the client to homeostasis.

During the 1 day course you will learn

  • To identify the major endocrine glands and their actions
  • To recognise which conditions may be affected by the endocrine system
  • To locate the reflexes for these glands on the foot
  • To understand the potential benefits of working these reflexes
  • What the associated reflexes for the endocrine system are

Cost: £800.00 for the full programme. Individual modules are £100.00 each.
